The Marriott Orlando World Center Resort & Convention Center is too big for its amenities. And sadly, we went there for the sole purpose of using the pool for an entire day, staying a night at the hotel, and leaving early the next morning to hit the water parks in Orlando. So we were looking for full access of the hotel's amenities.
It is a nice Marriott property. It appears to be clean and has a selection of restaurants. As you will soon read, I'm not pleased with the property due to the amenities v. its size. Yet, the hotel isn't all bad. So the good --> the rooms are a nice size. Our room overlooked the golf course which the hotel is located on. Our room also had a distant view of Downtown Disney as well as a very distant view of the Epcot ball.

However, the hotel is simply too big for the amenities it offers. You want to valet park your car, forget about it, well – actually – DON'T!! Plan ahead! You need to call down to the valet 30 to 40 minutes before you need your car as the wait is that long to receive your car. We did use valet. However, self parking is an option as well. We heard from other guests that it's not easy to get in and out of the self park; even though, they do offer a shuttle service to the lot. Do you want to head to the pool for a chair? You can almost be promised you won't find one. Our family of four tries to only use two pool chairs when we visit a hotel. Our kids are usually in the pool and for the times they are out in the sun, they can share a chair with us. But most families at the pool didn't seem to have this mindset. The pool opens the gate at 8 AM and people were lined up (at least 50 or more) before the gates open. The hotel policy says they don't allow saving chairs; however, it was not enforced.
This photo was taken as we were checking out of the hotel from the lobby. If you look to the left, you can see how full the lawn and chairs are. This was around 8:30 in the morning...and the gates opened at 8:00...and it was already this full. Blah!

In my TravelLady research, I went to the front desk to ask about capacity while we were there. I was told they have 2009 rooms in total and to assume each room has 2 people occupying it (of course, some only have 1 while others may have 5). Ours had 4 people occupying it. The hotel was 87% full the night we were there. It was complete madness at the pool and in the restaurants. If the hotel is that large, then the amenities need to be able to accommodate these people. The assumption should not be that people are in a convention or gone to Disney for the day. I was disappointed by this. In fact, I had researched staying at the Nickelodeon Hotel. But decided not to due to the fact, I thought the pool would be too crazy. Silly me! And ironically, the Nick Hotel is directly across the street from the Marriott Orlando World Center Resort.
TravelLady Rating: Orlando has so many hotels to choose from. This would not be in my top selections for future travel in the Orlando area.
