View of the beach
The Omni at Amelia Island was a hidden, little gem for us. We went for a quick trip over the 4th of July weekend. The resort is wonderful. The grounds are perfectly manicured; everything seemed clean and well landscaped. There are two pools (one for 18 and up; one for families) as well as a splash pad area for toddlers.

The beach was great as well. We took towels from the pool stand and played on the beach for hours one afternoon. We are busy in the water with our children, so we don't need beach chairs. However, it is my understanding that you have to pay to use the hotel's beach chairs. I think this is ridiculous. Guests should have beach chairs! TravelTip: Bring your own beach chairs and boogie boards. You'll be good to go on the days you want to head away from the pool and down to the sand.
The resort has activities for all ages. There is great entertainment for kids at the pool. A variety of activities...some with an extra fee, other complimentary.
We stayed in the Sunrise Wing. It was a little further out, but we didn't mind the walk. I believe there are newer/renovated rooms. However, our room was fine. It is what I call a “standard hotel set up.” We had a great balcony. Our family sat on the balcony and watched the fireworks put on by the hotel the night of the 4th. It was a terrific display!

The bedroom set up - excuse the clothes laid out - we were getting ready for dinner when I snapped this shot.
The bathroom
I will say the food and drinks are overpriced. TravelTip: There is a Harris Teeter just down the street from the property. If you have a car, I recommend getting some snacks and drinks (and even lunch meat and bread). There is a mini-fridge in the hotel room. I saw many coolers out by the pool. You could cut your daily costs down if you planned to bring in some of your own food.
If you are looking for a relaxing get away, the Omni on Amelia Island delivers!
TravelLady Rating: This hotel far exceeded our expectations! We look forward to going again. Maybe even making it a 4th of July weekend tradition.
