December means a My Favorite Things Party. It was once again so much fun! This year's party game focused on hobbies and intentionally having "guilt-free play" scheduled into your calendar. We talked about hobbies being something that we can do in isolation but could be more fulfilling if done with others. Look for ways to meet new people:
Do you enjoy...
Cooking? take a class with friends at Sur La Table or go alone and meet new people there. Plan a trip with friends to go to the UF Canning Center.
Gardening? sign up for an arrangement class at Jax Flower Market
Games like Bridge or Mahjong? check out local groups such as Newcomer group, Meet Up, or create your own group at your neighborhood clubhouse, church, or community center
Tennis? Pickleball? join a league
Reading? find a book club or form one yourself
Crafts? look for local offerings such as cookie decorating classes, scrapbooking groups, Pinspiration activities, or host your own craft night
Running? join a running club, create a neighborhood group, look for weekly 5Ks in the area
Traveling? plan a girls' trip (and invite me!)
Exercising? ask friends to do a competition in person or even set up your watch/device to compete and text one another to check in
Below is a round up a list of favorite things brought this year's party. I'm including links for you to see the items. However, this is not a "price buster" post...so better prices may be available at other locations. Also, these are links to show the product but may not be the exact item that was given.
Each year it seems the "gifts" at the party seem to have an unplanned theme. One year, it was wine. One year, it was socks. One year, it was lip care. This year it was the year of "many small gifts that make up the price point of $15." After all, good things come in small packages!
Ziploc Reuseable Bags called Contain the Clutter
Disposable earplugs
Thirsty Board - For drying dishes on the counter but no water build up. The gifter said the water "magically disappears"
Tea Cups (mug size found at World Market and come in a variety of designs) with lavender honey, Trader Joe's Winter Wake Up Tea, and Trader Joe's Peppermint Chocolate Candies
A bag of Aldi treats - seasonal brownies, Dark Chocolate Kettle Corn, Turkey Stuffing Chips, soft gingerbread cookies, Aldi's version of Peppermint JoJo's
Head Scrubber - this is supposed to help with having less hair loss
Goat Milk Hand Cream - variety set can be found at Costco
Out The Door - quick drying nail polish
Awesome spray - smaller sizes can be found at The Dollar Tree
Portable Travel Fan - also has a flashlight; sets up well on night stands in hotel rooms or good for ball games
Glycolic Acid Toner by The Ordinary - pro tip: Use the product remaining on your cotton ball to coat the heels of your feet. Keeping your heels always flip flop ready!
Wireless Sports Headband - use it while sleeping to tune out noises and/or snoring
Make-up bag - Come in various sizes. I actually have this larger size and it holds so much!
Dainty gold bracelets - This is not the exact item but similar. Be aware this linked set has a initial choice when ordering.
Trader Joe's candle set with TJ's Peanut Butter Cups
TSA-approved travel shower set - it really doesn't leak!
Bounce Wrinkle Release spray
"Purple" Gift Wrap Scotch Tape - This is better than the "green" one.
Pretzel M&Ms - hard to find but Walgreens carries them
Deep Frizz Shea Moisture for curly hair
Amy Kemp's I See You self-help book
Simmer Pot for mulling spices or seasonal potpourri
World Market's quarter size sheet pan (colors could be seasonal) with kitchen towel
Gift set to include the items needed for "Holiday Sparkle" drink. Here is the recipe:
1 part Prosecco (Rose) 1 part lemonade 1/4 part vodka Garnish with strawberries or raspberries.
Now the season can officially begin!
Brown paper packages tied up with string, these are a few of my favorite things....
